People Disliked by Allah — In the Light of the Holy Quran

“Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors.”

It is narrated that Hazrat Ibrahim عليه السلام once expressed the desire to Hazrat ‘Izra’il عليه السلام to witness the state in which the soul of a disobedient and disliked servant of Allah is taken. The perceptive capacity of the Prophets is extraordinary, and Hazrat Ibrahim عليه السلام—who did not tremble even when cast into the fire—still insisted on seeing it.

Hazrat ‘Izra’il عليه السلام replied that he would not be able to bear the sight. But when he insisted, he told him to look behind. Upon seeing it, Hazrat Ibrahim عليه السلام fell unconscious. After some time, when he regained consciousness, Hazrat ‘Izra’il عليه السلام said: “What you were shown was only the appearance in which I take the soul; the actual torment inflicted upon the disobedient at the moment of death is far more severe than this.”

It is mentioned in Hadith that those who are disliked and disobedient to Allah will be tormented in their graves by serpents until the Day of Judgment; if even one of them were to breathe upon the earth, no grass would grow there until the Day of Resurrection. The grave will become so constricted upon them that their ribs will interlock like the fingers of two hands clasped together.

Today, the short life of this world has deceived us. Music, obscenity, deception, falsehood, and immoral behavior have been made attractive in our eyes by Shaytan. May Allah Ta‘ala grant us all the ability to make sincere tawbah (repentance) and remain steadfast upon it. آمین.
