Hatred and Enmity (In the Light of Hadith)

“Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet ﷺ said: It is not lawful for a Muslim to abandon meeting his Muslim brother for more than three days. When the two meet, one turns his face this way and the other turns his face that way; and the better of the two is the one who initiates the greeting.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

“Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet ﷺ said: Twice in the week the deeds of people are presented before Allah the Exalted—on Monday and Thursday. Then Allah forgives all Muslim servants except the one who has enmity with his Muslim brother. It is said regarding them: Give them respite until they reconcile with one another.” (Sahih Muslim)

“Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet ﷺ said: Beware of envy, for envy consumes good deeds just as fire consumes wood.” (Sunan Abu Dawud)

“Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet ﷺ said: Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the most false of speech. Do not search for the hidden faults of people. Do not express desire for a thing by offering a higher price in order to deceive someone. Do not envy one another. Do not bear enmity. Do not backbite one another. And O servants of Allah, remain brothers.” (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

“Hazrat Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet ﷺ said: The disease of the previous nations—envy and hatred—will gradually spread among you. Each of them is a shaver. I do not mean that which shaves hair; rather I mean that which shaves the religion.” (Jami‘ al-Tirmidhi)

“Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said: By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you become true believers, and your faith will not be complete until you love one another. Shall I not inform you of that by which you will come to love one another? Spread the greeting of peace.” (Sahih Muslim)
